The Special Task Force of Kolkata Police arrested a person with explosives and fake currency notes in the city’s BBD Bagh area late on Saturday. Anwar Hussain Mullick (42),a resident of Nadia district,was arrested at the bus stand in BBD Bag. Sources said some ultra modern explosives and fake currency notes of face value Rs 1,90,000 were found in his possession. Mullick is suspected to be supplying explosives to some banned Islamic groups. He was produced before a court and sent to police custody till July 20.
STF chief Rajeev Mishra,when contacted,said that no link could be established between the accused and the Indian Mujahideen or the Pune blasts.
Durgapur man dies in Jkhand police custody
A resident of Durgapur,who was summoned to a police station in Dhanbad district for questioning in connection with a case of Rs 24.5 lakh robbery,allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside the premises,Jharkhand Police said. Badal Chandra Dey was found dead in the toilet of the police station in Nirsa block,police added. Dey worked as a driver with a steel company and was accused of colluding with the robbers in the loot of companys money.
