BJP announces candidates for assembly bypolls in West Bengal, AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey to contest from Maniktala
The Trinamool Congress and the Left Front have already announced their candidates for the upcoming bypolls that will be held on July 10.

The BJP on Monday announced the names of its candidates for the upcoming bypolls to four assembly seats in West Bengal.
The party has fielded Manas Kumar Ghosh from Raiganj, Manoj Kumar Biswas from Ranaghat Dakshin, Binay Kumar Biswas from Bagda, and Kalyan Chaubey from Maniktala in Kolkata.
The Trinamool Congress and the Left Front have already announced their candidates for the upcoming bypolls that will be held on July 10.

In three of the four Assembly seats – Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, and Bagda – BJP MLAs, who had won the 2021 Assembly polls, had switched sides to join the ruling TMC. They had resigned as MLAs to contest the Lok Sabha polls on a TMC ticket. However, all three of them lost the general elections. The resignations from their Assembly constituencies have resulted in the bypolls.
The Maniktala seat fell vacant after the demise of sitting veteran TMC leader Sadhan Pandey in 2022.
