‘Ab Bangal ki bari hai’: Ecstatic BJP links Bihar landslide to SIR
TMC hits out at Giriraj Singh for calling Mamata govt composed of Bangladeshis: ‘Insult to Bengal’.
Bharatiya Janata Party workers and supporters burst fire crackers as NDA takes massive lead in Bihar poll on Friday. (Source: ANI Photo) “Bihar mein ho rahi hai jeet humari, ab hai Bangal ki bari (We are winning in Bihar, and now it is Bengal’s turn),” echoed the BJP’s office in Kolkata as the BJP-led NDA swept the Assembly election in neighbouring Bihar.
As Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, distributed sweets to ecstatic party workers, he said: “The SIR (Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls) was conducted in Bihar, and after that, the NDA got this result. In West Bengal, the SIR exercise is going on. After that, here also, the BJP will win and the TMC will lose.”
Echoing him, former state BJP president and Union minister Sukanta Majumder posted on X, “Because of jungle raj, the RJD was defeated in Bihar. In Bengal, the TMC will be defeated for jungle raj.”
State BJP president Samik Bhattacharya said, “This massive wave of public support in Bihar will also reach West Bengal… The end of Trinamool.”
But it was the senior BJP leader from Bihar, Giriraj Singh, who said their “next target” is West Bengal.
West Bengal will go to the polls early next year.
“Bihar had decided that a government of anarchy would not be formed. The youth of Bihar are intelligent. This is the victory of development. We have won Bihar. Now it is Bengal’s turn,” the Union textiles minister said, triggering a backlash from the ruling TMC in Bengal.
“In Bengal, Didi (Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee) is running the government with Bangladeshis and goons. It will be defeated,” the MP from Begusarai said.
In a swift retort, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) posted on X, “The vitriol spewed by the BJP against Bengal and its people is a disgusting display of contempt. Their loudmouthed, knuckle-dragging Union Minister Giriraj Singh had the audacity to slander Bengal’s democratically elected government, chosen by the will of our Gonodebota, as a “Bangladeshi ki Sarkaar” and “Rohingya ki Sarkaar.” This is nothing short of a vile slur, painting every Bengali as a foreign intruder. While Giriraj’s party groveled at the feet of British imperialists, Bengal’s revolutionaries faced the gallows with unflinching courage. This sacred land, soaked in the blood of martyrs for India’s freedom, now faces the BJP’s questioning of our very existence.”
Calling it the BJP’s true Bangla-Birodhi face, the party accused the BJP as a party “that despises our identity and heritage”. “Amit Shah’s Delhi Police had the gall to label Bengali a ‘Bangladeshi language’. Amit Malviya, in his staggering ignorance, declared “there is no language called Bengali”. Himanta Biswa Sarma, with his toxic bigotry, threatened that anyone identifying Bengali in census documents would be marked a foreigner,” the party added.
Stating that “every insult hurled and every lie spread” will be remembered, the TMC said, “Bengal will neither forget nor forgive. In 2026, the people of Bengal, whom you dare to demean, will rise like a tidal wave, crushing your arrogance, dismantling your divisive politics, and reducing your hateful ideology to ashes. Prepare to face the wrath of a united Bengal, for we will show no mercy to those who trample our pride.
