Bibaswan Deb from Bengal and Shreya Pasricha from UP are in line for a double crown at the AITA BTA Championship Series 2009 being played in memory of late Dilip Bose at the BTA Complex. All the singles semi-finals played today were lop-sided. In the boys under-14 singles,top seed Nishanth Anthony Rebello blanked fourth seed Ishank Ravi of Bihar 6-0,6-0. Third seed P Vignesh Prabhu defeated eighth seed Rahul Somani Pradesh 6-3,6-3. The boys under-18 singles semi-finals saw top seed Bibaswan Deb drub Ayush Dharewa 6-1,6-2,while fourth seed Prem Singh won against Om Dalvi 6-4,6-2 to set up an all Bengal affair in the final. Bibaswan then went on to take the boys under-18 doubles title partnering Ranveer Shrivastav. They defeated Prem Singh and Sanjib Regius Kerketta,both from Bengal,6-0,6-2.
Aandrita Deb continued with her good form in the girls under-14 singles as she toppled top seed Megha Sehrawat of Delhi 6-1,6-3. Second seed Shreya Pasricha from Delhi defeated fourth seed Devanshi Bhimjyani of Maharashtra 6-2,6-2.
Top seed Amrita Mukherjee thrashed her doubles partner Megha Sehrawat in the girls under-18 semi-finals 6-1,6-0 to reach the finals. She now faces Shreya Pasricha of Uttar Pradesh. Unseeded Shreya defeated the seventh seed Pamir Gogoi of Assam 6-3,6-2 in the other semi-final.
Amrita partnering Sehrawat took the girls under-18 doubles crown beating the fourth seeded Kolkata pair of Raseena Chablani and Snigdha Kapoor 6-1,6-1.
The boys under-14 doubles title was annexed by the Eqbal siblings,Ishaque and Nishat who defeated the top seeded pair of Nishanth Anthony Rebello from Andhra Pradesh and Kuwar Singh Tater from Assam 4-6,6-4(10-5).
