The toll in the bus tragedy that took place in Bankura district on Thursday rose to nine with recovery of six more bodies on Friday. SP of Bankura Mukesh Kumar said four bodies,including that of a young woman,were found in Bhairabbanki river at Raipur. Two other bodies were found at Lalgarh in neighbouring West Midnapore this morning,he said. Search was on for more bodies,especially in the downstream though no complaints of missing persons had been filed with the police,he said. The private bus had fallen into the swollen river and was washed away while navigating a small bridge at Phulkulsma on way to Durgapur from Jhargram on Thursday.
R 2 lakh for victims
The government,meanwhile,announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for next of the kin of those who died in the accident.
