Bangladeshi electrocuted

A Bangladeshi national died Sunday after he allegedly tried to damage the border fence lighting along the Indo-Bangla border in North-24 Parganas district.

A Bangladeshi national died Sunday after he allegedly tried to damage the border fence lighting along the Indo-Bangla border in North-24 Parganas district. The incident took place on the intervening night of August 24-25 in the Kaijuri border post area of the eastern border with Bangladesh under Swaroopnagar police station of North 24 Parganas.

Three charred bodies found in school

Charred bodies of a woman and two kids were found inside a municipal school near Muchipara Sunday. The classroom,a tiled shed,is used for teaching kids from the local slum area. Burdwan SP S M H Mirza believes the three were murdered elsewhere with their bodies brought here in plastic bags and then set on fire. “Her legs were tied up. Two kids,of about four and seven years,were lying close to her. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” he said.

BESU student ragged by seniors

A first-year student of the metallurgical department of Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU) was allegedly ragged by some of his seniors,varsity sources said Sunday. Vice-Chancellor Ajay Ray has called a meeting to discuss the report sent to him by the anti-ragging committee.
