The West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC) has sought report from Kolkata Police Commissioner Surajit Kar Purkayastha after looking into the complaint of an MA student of Rabindra Bharati University who had alleged assault by seven students of her university. The panel has asked the commissioner to file an inquiry report within two weeks. The first-year student Friday met commission chairman Ashok Kumar Ganguly and complained about police’s inaction in dealing with her complaint that the boys had locked her in a room inside the campus and beat her up. Ganguly confirmed he had spoken to the girl.
