BJP’s organisational elections for Rajasthan will be held from September 20 to November 20 in four stages. Leaders at booth, block and district level, along with the new state BJP president will be elected in the polls.
While the party has provision for organisational elections at state level every three years, these elections are being held after a gap of five years.
BJP election in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna has announced the election schedule. While elections for party’s state president will take place on November 20, booth level polls will be held on September 20, block level polls on October 10 and district level elections on October 30.
Shyam Sundar Sharma has been appointed the party’s state election in-charge.
In the last internal polls held in 2010, Arun Chturvedi was elected as the state party president. He is now a cabinet minister. However, before the Rajasthan assembly elections, Chaturvedi was replaced by Vasundhara Raje, who led the party to massive victory. She in turn vacated the post after becoming chief minister.
Her supporter Ashok Pernami was then given the responsibility.
