Ex-serviceman kills wife, cooks body parts in pressure cooker in Hyderabad: Police

They said they had not found any body parts of the woman, P Venkata Madhavi, said to have been dumped by Gurumurthy. “We are verifying his claims and as of now, we have not found any body parts. The investigation is progressing,” Ch Praveen Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, L B Nagar, told The Indian Express.

Madhavi went missing on January 16 from Hyderabad’s Meerpet locality. Gurumurthy was married to Madhavi for 13 years and the couple has two children.

The police said Gurumurthy, who lived in New Venkateshwara Nagar Colony in Meerpet, tried to initially mislead them by joining his in-laws to lodge the police complaint on January 18. During the investigation, Gurumurthy told the police that his wife left home in a fit of rage after an argument between them on January 16 morning and did not return.

As the search for Madhavi intensified, the police grew suspicious of the husband and questioned him again. Gurumurthy allegedly confessed to committing the crime, the police said. According to the police, the couple had been having frequent arguments for several days.

According to Kumar, the woman wanted to visit her native place Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh for the Sankranti festival, and had an argument over this with her husband on the day she went missing. Their two children were at his sister’s house, he added.
