Over 30 final year students from Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Institute of Technology (PVPIT),Sangli were marked absent when their results were put up on the University of Pune (UoP) website on July 31. When The Indian Express approached varsity officials on Monday, they said they would rectify the error before the marksheets were printed.
I was shocked to see that I was marked absent for my embedded systems and real-time operating system exam. I had appeared for the exam on May 22. When we got to know that all the students from my class had been marked absent,we thought it could have been a mistake by the examination officials. However,we werent sure as neither the college nor the university was providing us any information, said a student from the Electronics and Telecommunications department.
UoP registrar Vithal Sathe, said,We have been informed about this error. Our Common Assesment Process (CAP) committee is looking into the matter. As marksheets have not been printed yet,we will rectify the error before that. The marksheets will be ready in the next few days and sent to the colleges. These results will then be taken off the website. The idea behind putting up the results on the website first is that students and colleges can point out if there are any mistakes, which can then be corrected before the marksheets are printed. Making changes to the hardcopies of the marksheets is a lengthy process and often students admissions and job prospects are affected if they notice mistakes later.
