Unlike earlier days when Class X results led to sleepless nights for students, the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) decision to introduce grades per subject and cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in 2010 has been a boon for students. That showed on Thursday when the results of the CBSE All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) were declared, with many students bagging the perfect CGPA 10.

Thursday’s results are historic for the board as the CBSE,for the first time, allowed students to choose between exams conducted by the board or their respective school.

This year the pass percentage for the CBSE Panchkula region comprised of Punjab,Haryana,Himachal,Chandigarh ,Jammu and others increased to 99.45 per cent from 98.08 per cent in 2011-12.

Talking to Ludhiana Newsline,R J Khanderoa,CBSE regional officer,Panchkula, said: “The passing percentage has increased which is a good sign.”
