Yati Narsinghanand ‘detained’, BJP MLA adds fuel, says temple attacked, calls for ‘encounter’

While there was no official statement, a police officer confirmed this to The Indian Express. According to a PTI report, his aides, too, said he had been detained in Ghaziabad.

Two days after an FIR was registered against him for objectionable remarks against Islam, Yati Narsinghanand, the controversial head priest of the Dasna Devi temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, is learnt to have been detained by the Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday.

While there was no official statement, a police officer confirmed this to The Indian Express. According to a PTI report, his aides, too, said he had been detained in Ghaziabad.

Meanwhile, adding to the controversy, BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar (Loni) alleged that Narsinghanand’s temple was attacked Friday, and that those responsible should be “shot in an encounter”.
