TWO women died of injuries after a car ran over them late Thursday night in Dadri’s Kalonda village. The incident took place after a clash broke out between two groups belonging to the Thakur community.

“Both groups belong to the same community. There was an argument over an event in the village and a clash broke out. Members of both groups reached Jharcha police station and an FIR was registered,” said Anurag Singh, Circle Officer Dadri.

While the two groups were filing their complaints at the police station, another fight broke out in the village.

“Some people tried to flee from the village in an Ambassador. In their hurry to get away, they ended up hitting three persons — two women and a man. All three were injured and rushed to hospital. The women, however, died later. The man is undergoing treatment at GB Pant Hospital in Delhi,” said Singh. Meanwhile, police personnel have been deployed in the village to ensure that clashes do not break out again.
