Woman stabbed by ‘jilted lover’ in C R Park

She was on her way to work when the two men intercepted her.

Two men have been arrested for allegedly stabbing a 28-year-old woman thrice in Southeast Delhi’s C R Park area on Monday. Police said the accused Rajesh and his accomplice Irshad Ali were arrested soon after the incident.

Police said the woman, Reena Rawat, works as an executive in a private company in Nehru Place. She was on her way to work when the two men intercepted her.

“Rajesh and his friend bought a knife to carry out the attack. Both were on a bike. They intercepted Reena and first stabbed her twice in the back. The accused then stabbed her in the stomach. She fell on the ground bleeding. Rajesh dropped the knife next to her and fled.

Passersby made a PCR call and Reena was rushed to hospital. We have recovered the weapon. A case in the matter has been registered.

We are waiting to record Reena’s statement. She is recuperating. Doctors said she is stable,” a senior police officer said.

Police said Rajesh had asked Reena to marry him but she had turned him down. Rajesh also stalked Reena but she repeatedly ignored him. So he hatched a plan to teach her a lesson.

In a separate incident, a 23-year-old Delhi University student was allegedly attacked by a spurned lover, who slashed her left cheek with a blade outside West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar Metro station on Monday night.

Police said the woman was on her way home when the accused, Nadir (25), attacked her.

Police said the woman was admitted to hospital and was later discharged.

“We have recorded her statement and a case has been registered. The accused will be arrested soon,” a senior police officer said.
