Woman shot dead by partner in Noida: Three days on, accused still on the run; police form three search teams for huntThe Station House Officer (SHO), Noida Phase 2, Vidhiyanchal Tiwari said that three police teams had been formed to trace Krishna, who hailed from Bihar’s Arrah district.

When 24-year-old Sonu’s neighbours in Noida’s Yakubpur area heard a gunshot on Friday evening, they assumed it was a cylinder blast in one of the rooms of the five-storey residential building in the locality.

As they hurried towards the spot, a few of them saw a 25-year-old Krishna rushing down the stairs. When enquired about the source of the sound, the man pulled the trigger of the pistol and pointed it towards the neighbours.

According to police, Krishna– Sonu’s partner– had allegedly shot her dead, following a dispute at her rented accommodation in Noida. He has been on the run since then.

The Station House Officer (SHO), Noida Phase 2, Vidhiyanchal Tiwari said that three police teams had been formed to trace Krishna, who hailed from Bihar’s Arrah district.

“We have registered an FIR under Section 103 (1) for muder against Krishna after the police received a complaint from the family,” he said.

On Monday, when The Indian Express visited the Gali no 19 of Yakubpur, a lock dangled from the wooden doors of the room as Sonu’s siblings–her two sisters, aged 22 and 18, her brother (15)–had left for Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district.

The shoes of the sisters lay on the floor while their clothes hung from the plastic rope in the common gallery. Puja, the owner of the building who runs a small grocery store in the locality, said the four siblings had moved to the rented accommodation three months ago. “As verification we take their Aadhaar cards,” she said.

According to SHO Tiwari, Sonu had been in a relationship with Krishna for the last three years. He added that a dispute broke out between the couple after she denied to marry him.

Around 7:30 pm on Friday, the police received a PCR call from one of Sonu’s sisters informing that she was shot, SHO Tiwari added. “Upon reaching the spot, we saw that she was shot in her chest and we took her to the hospital where she was declared dead,” he said.

“We knew that she was in a relationship with him as they had been working as domestic helpers in the same society in Sector 142, Noida. But, we don’t know what actually happened between them. When I saw her, she was already dead. None of us know the actual reason behind the crime” said Sumit, Sonu’s brother.

According to officers, the police control room received information that a man identified as Krishna had opened fire on the woman following a dispute reportedly linked to a relationship issue. A forensic team inspected the crime scene, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination after completing the required formalities, police added.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy said, “Preliminary inquiry suggested that Krishna visited the woman’s rented room earlier in the day, where an argument ensued, leading to the shooting. The accused fled the scene soon after the incident.”
