Senior officers said Ranju was taken to Max Hospital where she underwent surgeries. Her foetus couldn’t be saved due to blood loss. (File) Days after a 30-year-old woman was shot at for allegedly objecting to loud music being played near her house, she succumbed to her injuries Saturday night. Police said her neighbour and his friend allegedly shot her in the neck when she complained about the loud music. She was eight months pregnant and had miscarried during treatment.
The incident took place in Outer Delhi’s Samaypur Badli last week Sunday. Two men, Harish and Amit, have been arrested. It was Harish’s son’s Kuwan Pujan when the DJ was called and the family played music, said police.
“Doctors tried treating her but she died due to the severe nature of the injuries. The accused have now been booked under Murder and Arms Act,” said a senior police officer.
According to police, 30-year-old Ranju allegedly complained of loud music but Harish didn’t listen. When she called him again from her balcony, he allegedly took Amit’s unlicensed pistol and fired at her, police further said. Her sister-in-law told the police about the incident and the accused were arrested.
Senior officers said Ranju was taken to Max Hospital where she underwent surgeries. Her foetus couldn’t be saved due to blood loss.
Police are also probing whether the accused bought the gun for celebratory firing and will book them accordingly.
Meanwhile, Ranju’s family demanded stricter action against the accused and their families.
Ranju’s brother, Dharmendra, said “She had three children… they are all aged around six, three and one. Who will take care of them now? We had called our family from Bihar to celebrate her Godh Bharai. I was at home when her husband called me. I didn’t even know what had happened. I was shocked to see her. The bullet hit her in the middle of the neck. Doctors had told us she had lost her baby. Last night, we lost her too. She was young and wanted her kids to have a good life. How can they fire at her? She had only complained of loud music. Is that a reason to kill someone?”
