A 24-year-old woman and her sister were arrested on the charge of throwing acid on her husband’s face in Northeast Delhi’s Goklupuri area. Police said her parents and brother-in-law,who were also involved in the incident,are on the run.
The incident took place on Sunday and the victim,Nasiruddin,approached police on Tuesday. The arrested women have been identified as Rubina,Nasiruddin’s wife,and her sister Chando.
Police said the couple got married three months ago and stayed in a rented accommodation in Gokulpuri.
According to police,they had an argument two days before Eid. The spat resulted in Nasiruddin celebrating Eid with his family in Loni. When he returned,he went to Rubina’s parents’ house in Mustafabad in Gokulpuri where the two again had a heated argument,police said.
Nasiruddin told police that following the fight,he was tied up by Rubina’s family members and Rubina and her sister assaulted him before throwing acid on his face.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
