Union Home Secretary R K Singh on Friday said Syed Ali Shah Geelani, leader of the Hurriyat hardliners, may be questioned for recommending an alleged LeT militant for a visa to Pakistan.

The police have recovered a visa recommendation letter that Geelani wrote for Ahtesham Malik, one of the three arrested for a terror plot to strike Delhi.

Asked by reporters if Geelani would be questioned in connection with the case,Singh said he would be questioned,if the probe requires. Geelani,on his part, blamed the government. “I routinely recommend many people for visas to Pakistan. It is the fault of the government who issued the passport to him. They should have checked the antecedents of the person concerned.”
