Former Delhi chief minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Friday visited Neha Yadav’s parents at their residence in Kapashera. Neha was burnt by her in-laws over dowry. She succumbed to injuries earlier this week.
Kejriwal assured the family of support in getting them justice. “My party and I will continue to fight for justice for Neha and her family. I extend all possible support,” Kejriwal said.
The AAP leader, who sat on a dharna earlier this year alleging inaction by Sagarpur SHO in the case, blamed “lapses” on the part of police for the incident. “This is an open and shut case. Police inaction and lapses made by them is one of the reasons why this happened,” Kejriwal said.
The former CM also demanded that action be taken against police officers. “When I was the CM, the Lt-Governor had assured that SHO would be sent on leave and an inquiry would be set up. But he continues to be the SHO. I request the L-G to take action against the SHO,” Kejriwal said. He alleged that no action had been taken due to “political pressure”.
Asked about the party’s future course of action regarding the case, Kejriwal said, “Rakhi Birla will visit the DCP and after that we will come up with a strategy.” Neha’s parents requested Kejriwal to help them get compensation for the children.
