Parents’ associations from across the National Capital Region decided on Sunday they would refuse to pay the hiked fee in private schools, and would force schools to hold Parent Teacher Association elections.

At a meeting called under the aegis of the All-India Parents Association, held at Hindi Bhawan, near ITO,representatives of the parents’ associations of over 30 schools from Delhi and NCR discussed how to put forward their demands.

The associations have decided that parents will call a general body meeting of parents and teachers and elect PTA representatives themselves if the schools fail to do so within 15 days. “We all decided that parents at each school will write to the management asking them to hold a general body meeting within 15 days or they would call one themselves. It is time that parents take things into their own hands,” Ashok Aggarwal, president AIPA,said.

The associations have also decided to call for a massive agitation across NCR after the elections in Delhi.
