CCTV footage of Delhi road accident shows victim flung several feet up in the air

The driver was identified as 21-year-old BBA student of Indraprastha University, who was found in an inebriated condition

A day after a car rammed into pedestrians at Delhi’s Janakpuri, the CCTV footage capturing the hit-and-run has been released. News agency ANI released the footage of the incident which shows a speeding car hitting a man as he took a stroll in the early hours of Monday.

The man, who got hit by the car, was flung several feet above the ground by the impact of the accident.

Two people were killed and another person was injured in the accident. According to police, the driver was arrested after a 15-minute chase by a constable. The man behind the wheel has been identified as Rishabh Rawat, a 21-year-old BBA student of Indraprastha University, said police, adding that he was in a highly inebriated state.

Police added that the car is registered in Rishabh’s name and was given to him by his father in December last year.

A relative of one of the victims, after seeing the CCTV footage, said, “This is not an accident. This is cold-blooded murder.”
