A day after he allegedly crashed his SUV into several vehicles at a busy stretch in Noida’s Sector 16 and sped away, a 27-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, said police.  The purported video of the incident, widely shared on social media, captured a Black Thar hitting multiple vehicles recklessly.

The man has been identified as Sachin Kumar Lohiya. He is a resident of Delhi and works as a property dealer, said an officer.  “The incident occurred on Tuesday after he visited a mechanic in the Noida Phase-1 area to install a speaker in his Mahindra Thar,” said Noida Phase-1 Station House Officer (SHO) Amit Bhadana.

Lohiya allegedly picked up an argument with the mechanic as he wanted to remove the installed speaker and get another installed in its place.  “The argument blew up, which turmed into a scuffle,” said Bhadana. Agitated over the disagreement, Lohiya allegedly sped away in his Mahindra Thar from the shop and ended up damaging several vehicles on the way.  “However, no one was injured in the case,” added the SHO.

“An FIR  has been registered under the appropriate legal sections at the Phase-1 police station, which has jurisdiction over the area,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Ram Badan Singh had said in a statement earlier.  The FIR was registered under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352(breach of peace), and 351(2)criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, among others .  “We have seized the Thar vehicle used in the incident,” read an official police statement.
