In a breather for parents seeking admissions for their wards in nursery classes for the 2010-11 session,many schools that had started the registration process violating the Directorate of Education’s (DoE) order have now postponed it till December 15.
Falling in line with the DoE order that directed all schools across the city to start admissions only from December 15,schools like Kids Way at Pusa Road,Vivek Summit at East Patel Nagar,Bhatnagar International Foundation School at Vasant Kunj,Saplings at Paschim Vihar and Convent of Rani Jhansi at RK Puram have postponed their registration. Sources in the Education department said notices will be served to these “erring” schools.
Some schools,however,are continuing with their registration process,among them New Era Junior School at Rajouri Garden and St Thomas School at Dwarka.
Newsline,in an earlier report,had pointed out that certain city schools were flouting DoE norms. DoE,in a circular dated October 28,had warned of “strong” action against the schools that deviated from the given schedule — from December 15 to March 31.
“All schools should follow the DoE order and stick to a uniform schedule for nursery admissions. That way,parents can plan a schedule beforehand and need not run from pillar to post for their children’s admission,” said Sumit Vohra,creator of http://www.admissionsnursery.com.
A parent (who identified himself as Sandeep) said: “I have filled up the online registration form. The school has now told me that I will have to wait till December 15.”
When contacted,the school authorities said,“Right now we are following government orders.”
Parents who applied to these schools will be called back,but only after December 15,the schools said. “The school will give you a call after December 15.”
Montu Malhotra,in charge of Bhatnagar International Foundation School,said,“We had never started the registration process. In fact,parents were very keen to visit our school and filled up the information form so that we could get back to them.”
A senior Education department official said,“We have asked our district level officers to keep a check. If any school is found violating orders,we will initiate action.”
Sources,meanwhile,said the management of Bal Bharati Public School — three branches of the school at Rohini,Dwarka and Gangaram Hospital Marg had started admissions on October 26 — are meeting tomorrow “to discuss the issue”. The school was issued a notice by DoE on November 2 and again on November 5 asking it to hold the admissions process in abeyance.
St Mary’s School,Safdarjung Enclave,too had started admissions from November 1 but halted the process on November 7. Principal Annie Koshy said,“We will continue the process from December 15.”
