Six people linked to two cases of alleged voter ID forgery in Shaheen Bagh were arrested on Monday, said officials. The arrest followed complaints by Vinod Kumar, the Electoral Registration Officer for Okhla Assembly Constituency, who reported that several individuals had submitted forged documents for electoral roll applications.

Ravi Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Delhi), said the accused have been identified as Muhammad Naim (32), Rizwan Ul Haq (30), Sabana Khatoon, Rajat Srivastava (27), Trilok Chand (51), and Sachin Kumar (27).

“Srivastava, a cyber café operator in Jasola, was linked to both forgery cases. He forged electricity bills for multiple individuals using PDF editing tools. Chand, a private tutor from Malviya Nagar, collaborated with him in creating fraudulent documents and helped Sachin, a housekeeping employee at a hospital in Delhi, in forging documents for his deaf and mute uncle to transfer land ownership,” DCP Singh said.

The officer further informed that Haq, a cyber café owner from Shaheen Bagh, allegedly used Photoshop to forge electricity bills for Naim, an electrician. “Khatoon, a housewife from Shaheen Bagh, was also found using forged electricity bills to apply for an address change on her voter ID card,” he added.

In addition to these cases, new complaints have been registered regarding alleged fraudulent voter registration applications in Dwarka and Outer North Districts. A formal complaint was lodged by Shelly, ERO of Matiala, with the Bindapur Police Station after it was discovered that applicants Bulbul Kumari and Inderjeet submitted applications for voter registration through Form-6 using alleged forged Aadhaar cards as proof of residence.
