Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday proposed a reduction of Rs 1.26 per litre on petrol prices in the Capital. Following the recent petrol price hike of Rs 7.5 per litre across the country,Dikshit said she tried to provide as much relief as possible. In the budget presented on Monday,an exemption of 20 per cent on the value added tax (VAT) component of petrol price was announced. If passed by the Delhi Assembly,the exemption bring petrol prices in the Capital down to Rs 71.92.
