The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) on Thursday condemned Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh’s “unholy scramble” to fill up top posts. Singh, whose tenure ends on October 28, cannot make appointments after July 28, according to the directives of the Human Resource Development Ministry.
“We condemn the hurry displayed by the current V-C’s team in filling up top administrative and academic posts just days before the deadline (to make appointments)…,” DUTA president Nandita Narain said.
The V-C allegedly wants to fill up posts such as controller of examinations, deputy registrar, director for centre for professional development and higher education, director of sports among others. DUTA has expressed its reservation, in particular over the post of the controller of examinations. But DU media spokesperson Malay Neerav said “the rules are being followed”.
