US citizen alleges rape: ‘Accused forced himself on her at work seminar’

The woman, who lived in the US earlier, worked as the Assistant General Manager at the same NGO. She approached police Saturday saying she was raped by the accused last year.

A senior police officer said, “She alleged she met the accused at the five-star hotel on September 14 last year for a seminar… she said she consumed a drink and felt dizzy. She alleged he sexually assaulted her when they were alone. The woman said she doesn’t remember which room she was taken to…”

A case under sections of rape has been registered. Police said the woman was “scared” of the accused and didn’t file a complaint earlier because of his “influence”. “Complainant and accused were known to each other. The man is a friend of the woman’s uncle, who helped her get the job,” said Additional DCP (New Delhi) Ravi Kant Kumar Sunday.
