Urban Extension Road 2 Project: The newly inaugurated Urban Extension Road 2 project addresses Delhi‘s long-standing traffic congestion and connectivity issues. With the opening of this highway, the travel time will get reduced in Delhi-NCR. Thus, it will further improve ease of living and ensures seamless mobility in the region.
Urban Extension Road II Project
The Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) project connects NH-44, NH-09 and the Dwarka Expressway to decongest Delhi and strengthen regional connectivity. The commuters travelling from Chandigarh can reach Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in much lesser time. It further strengthened inter-state connectivity with Haryana, Punjab, J&K and Uttarakhand.
Key features of UER-II in Delhi
15.7-km-long six-lane Package 1 will connect NH-44 to Karala-Kanjhawala Road
13.45-km-long six-lane Package 2 will connect Karala-Kanjhawala Road to Najafgarh-Nangloi Road
Forms part of Delhi’s 3rd Ring Road (NH-344M), a six-lane access-controlled highway
Features major interchanges at NH-44 (Alipore), NH-09 (Mundka) and Bahadurgarh Spur, along with RoBs over the Delhi-Bathinda rail line
Urban Extension Road 2 Project
Contributes towards decongesting Inner and Outer Ring Roads, Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan and NH-09
29.6-km-long four-lane Package 4 will connect UER to Sonipat Bypass on NH-344P
7.3-km-long four-lane Package 5 will connect UER to Bahadurgarh Bypass on NH-344N
Direct connectivity from UER to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat
Sonipat spur links Bawana Industrial Area to NH-352A, bypassing the traffic on NH-44
Bahadurgarh spur connects Dichaon Kalan to NH-09, linking Delhi with KMP Expressway and easing movement of logistics in NCR.
The Urban Extension Road-II project utilised 10 lakh MT of inert material from Bhalswa and Ghazipur MCD sites and ensured the transplantation of over 10,000 trees. The project is also set to drive socio-economic growth across developing areas of the national capital.
