Under the wheels: Three killed in separate motorcycle accidents

In three separate accidents involving motorcycles,three persons were killed and one critically injured.

In three separate accidents involving motorcycles,three persons were killed and one critically injured.

All accidents were reported in the past 24 hours.

In the first incident,a security guard died after a motorcycle ran over him on Saturday night in South East Delhi’s Okhla area.

Police said Surendra Pal Sharma was returning home on a bicycle with his son Rishikesh when a motorcycle collided with him. “Rishikesh saw the motorcycle coming from Indra Kalyan Vihar at high speed. He waved his hands and signalled the man on the bike to slow down. But he didn’t and rammed his bike into his father,” a police officer said.

Surendra was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

According to police,the motorcyclist,Jaswant Singh,has been arrested and booked for rash driving and causing death by negligence.

In another accident on Sunday morning,a truck run over a motorcyclist in New Friends Colony in Southeast Delhi.

Police said the truck had jumped the Okhla More traffic signal near Ashram Chowk and the accident took place in front of a constable and a head constable. The two policemen were were patrolling the area.

“The man on the motorcycle was driving towards Jamia Nagar from the Sarita Vihar side. He was crossing the traffic signal when truck rammed him from the side. The man died on the spot,” an officer said.

“The motorcyclist,Dhruv Soni,was a resident of Sarita Vihar. The truck driver,Vijay Yadav,has been arrested,” the officer said.

The third accident took place in the Cantonment area of Southwest Delhi where a vehicle crashed into two man on a motorcycle on Sunday night.

Police said 27-year-old Pushkar,a resident of Madhepura in Bihar,died on the spot. His 25-year-old friend Rakesh,a Delhi resident,was critically injured.

“Both were aspiring chartered accountants. The accident took place on the National Highway 8 flyover near Jhareragaon in the Cantonment area,” an officer said.

As no eyewitness were present in the area,police have not been able to identify the vehicle that hit the two men,the officer said on Monday.
