Uber launches auto rickshaw service in Delhi; cash-only service for now

Uber launched a new auto rickshaw service only for New Delhi.

Global taxi app Uber on Thursday launched their new auto rickshaw service called ‘uberAUTO’ in New Delhi. With this feature, users no longer have to wait for hours to hail an auto or lose their cool over fare negotiation. All you need to do is start the Uber app, choose uberAUTO from options menu, book your ride and pay the driver directly in cash when you reach your destination.

This facility is ‘cash-only’ service for now. Besides, the fare prices are set according to the Delhi Transport Authority guidelines, which means no haggling over fares. Customers can also book autos even when there’s no credit in their Paytm wallet as the entire focus in on cash.

“When it comes to getting around Delhi, auto-rickshaws are a staple. We recognise the history and value of autos to the transportation landscape. For us, uberAUTO is another way of using technology to offer more choice, making life simpler and keep Delhi moving,” Uber wrote on their blogpost.

This service is only available in New Delhi. Haryana and UP don’t have UberAuto for now.
