Two more persons have been arrested for allegedly beating up a senior journalist of a Hindi daily after he reportedly denied a ride in his car to one of their friends.
Earlier,Badshapur police had arrested the prime accused Ashok,a resident of Ullahwas village,and had launched a hunt for the other accused. The two arrested on Thursday -Praveen and Rajkumar are residents of the same village,police said.
According to police,the incident took place at a horse riding school in Gurgaon on Monday. Yatish Rajawat,Group Managing Editor of Dainik Bhaskar,was on his way to the horse riding school in a Maruti Swift when Ashok,who was allegedly in an inebriated condition,tried to stop the car outside the school. He asked Rajawat to drop him to his village.
Rajawat ignored Ashok and drove inside the riding school compound,police said.
Rajawat told Newsline that Ashok also tried to snatch the keys of his car. This happened without any provocation. I managed to get away and drove inside the riding school premises, said Rajawat.
Half an hour later,about six persons,including Ashok,reached the riding school and beat him up with baseball bats,Rajawat said in his complaint.
We have already arrested four persons involved in the incident. We will arrest the remaining two soon, said DCP (South) Hameed Akhtar.
Meanwhile,the Chandigarh Press Club on Thursday expressed concern over the attack on Rajawat. It urged Haryana DGP R S Dalal to look
into the matter.
