Two incidents of minor girls being raped was reported from Northeast Delhi on Saturday.
Police said an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old man in Mansarover Park. The girl, a Class VII student, used to frequently chat with him on messaging client WhatsApp, police said.
According to police, the girl’s family did not approve of their friendship and had asked her to stay away from him. “The girl’s parents approached police after she told them that she had been sexually assaulted. We have registered a case of rape based on the girl’s complaint and the accused has been arrested,” a police officer said.
Another 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour in Nand Nagri.
Police said the girl was reportedly alone at home when the accused went there to look for her father. When he found her alone, he allegedly raped her, police said. He also threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone about it, police said.
Police said the accused is absconding. The girl’s mother, a guard at a hospital, came home to find the girl crying. “The mother approached police and lodged a complaint against the neighbour. Medical examination of the girl has confirmed rape. A case has been registered and teams have been formed to nab the accused,” a police officer said.
