Two juveniles, aged 15 and 14, have been apprehended for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar area. On the basis of the child’s statement, police said they have registered a case. The juveniles have been sent to a correctional home after they were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), added police.
According to police, the girl’s family and the juveniles families are neighbours. The girl’s family said they trusted the two boys and would often send their daughter to play with them.
A police officer said, “The incident occurred Saturday evening when the child was playing outside her home. The juveniles lured her on the pretext of giving her chocolate. They took her to their home and raped her. The girl managed to go home and complained of pain in her private areas and told her mother that the boys sexually abused her.”
“She told her husband who in turn informed police about the assault. She was taken to hospital where medical examination confirmed that she has been raped. Doctors said the child, who is undergoing counseling, is mentally distressed,” added the officer.
