The Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking and seized 1,575 kg of marijuana worth Rs 6 crore in the international market,police said. The accused have been identified as Bhaskar Rao (55) and T Kumar (29).
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said the accused used to put the drugs in a gunny bag and cover it with lemons and fodder,to hide the smell of the contraband. Police received a tip-off from the Narcotics Cell on August 31,informing them that Nagraj,a native of Tamil Nadu,and one Prashant Kale,were about to bring Marijuana through a truck driver. They were also told that it would be stored in a godown in Ghazipur Dairy farms.
Acting on the tip off,a special team was deployed to apprehend the accused. Bhaskar and Kumar were apprehended from Gazipur Dairy Farms. It was found that they had procured the drug from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, police said. Police said further investigations are on.
