Police on Sunday arrested two persons, a day after a 33-year-old woman was found murdered in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area. Police said the two accused were known to the victim, but did not reveal their identity.
Police said the mother of three was found dead in bushes on Saturday with her hands and feet tied. Police suspect she might have been sexually assaulted before she was murdered. Police said they had detained the two persons for questioning on Saturday night. They were arrested on Sunday.
The woman, who worked in a tailoring unit in Chhattarpur, had left her Fatehpur Beri home for work at 9 am on Friday but did not return home, police said. Her husband, a security guard, then lodged a complaint.
A policeman found her body in the bushes behind Ghitorni Metro station in Chhattarpur on Saturday morning.
The body was partially covered, which made police suspect that she might have sexually assaulted. Police have registered a case of murder and sent the body for a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death and whether the woman was raped.
