Two persons were arrested by the South District police for allegedly cheating people after promising them loans.
Subhash Chander (32),a resident of Mehrauli,and Vakeel Ansari alias Ajay (28),a resident of Malviya Nagar,were arrested on Wednesday. Several fake documents like identity cards of HDFC and ICICI bank,driving licences,PAN cards,ATM cards,SIM cards and four mobiles were recovered from their possession.
The duo had duped a woman residing in Dilshad Garden of Rs 66,000 on the pretext of providing a loan, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) P S Kushwah.
According to police,the accused were previously employed with various banks. They were fired in August last year and began cheating loan-seekers,police said. The victims loan was rejected,but the accused posed as a bank employee and assured her that her loan will be cleared if her account balance was above
She gave him two cheques,which he forged to withdraw
Rs 66,000 on May 18.
