Father of the tutor Jagannath, who was allegedly run over by a truck outside the Okhla police station on Wednesday night, has submitted a fresh complaint to police alleging that his son had been “murdered” by the family members of a 20-year-old girl Jagannath was tutoring. Police refused to confirm whether they have received the complaint.

The FIR registered by police mentions that Jagannath was hit by a truck a short distance from the police station. But the 25-year-old tutor’s father Ram Babu said he and Jagannath were beaten up by the girl’s family.

Her family had made a PCR call on Wednesday claiming that Jagannath and Ram Babu had abducted their daughter Soni. But Soni returned home on Wednesday evening accompanied by Ram Babu and Jagannath. Ram Babu alleged that Soni’s father Shambhu and her cousins beat them up before calling police.

The FIR also mentions that there were no eye-witnesses to the “accident” which killed Jagannath. In the FIR, it is mentioned that a constable reached the spot and saw “a truck (RJ02GA7567) and an injured man lying on the road near the right tyre of the truck. Police said that there were no policemen standing outside the Okhla police station when the father and cousins of Soni signalled Jagannath to come out.

A senior officer said, “A police van fetched Jagannath, Ram Babu and Soni’s father Shambhu and his nephews — Raju and Manoj.
