Even as Café Mocha celebrates its first year at Defence Colony market after relocating from Greater Kailash post the MCD sealing drive, the promoters are taking the coffees and desserts to different corners of the city with three new outlets. Up and running is a plush,three-floor eatery in Gurgaon and others will soon follow suit — Mocha Art House at the soon-to-open DLF Mall at Vasant Kunj and Mocha Bar at Nehru Place.

Café Mocha has worked out a distinct space for itself in Gurgaon. Located in DLF Phase IV,it is difficult to miss the building, painted in white and pink. Each of the three floors has chalked out a different mood and ambience. The ground floor is quieter with bookracks and dining tables in different shapes and sizes. The second floor is fenced with bright green and golden wallpaper while the final climb to the third level will transport you into a sheesha lounge with kitschy décor in inky blues and bold reds. Swings are hung and couches are made out of jumbo bird cages. “It was exciting to work on a standalone space. We’ve given each floor an individual ambience,” says owner Riyaaz Amlani.

The menu, however, remains the same. The first few pages are devoted to dessert crêpes and sinful chocolate desserts like Crème Brûlee (Rs 110),a bowl of rich custard topped with caramelised sugar, and That Chocolate Thing (Rs 125),a gooey chocolate sandwich served with ice cream.

The coffee blends include the rather interesting Hawaiian Kona Fancy (Rs 145) that has a nutty flavour,Yemeni Mocha Sannani (Rs 145) that tastes more like chocolate, and Monsoon Malabar (Rs 50),a full-bodied brew with a spicy touch. Also on offer are liqueur blends like Café Zabaglione (Rs 115) which is made by whisking together coffee, egg yolks and wine. Shakes are priced at Rs 125 and coolers, like lemonade with a cranberry twist, begin at Rs 70. But if you want something to nibble on,ask for muffins, pies or even Maggi noodles stirred with different sauces. A separate page on sheeshas announces a variety of fruity flavours (Rs 295 for single and Rs 345 for double pipe).

Meal for Two: Rs 500
