Trainee doctor, MBA student die by suicide

SuicideAccording to police, Monika left home in a fit of rage around 12.30 am with Ghanshyam following her. Shortly after that, Monika jumped in front of a moving train and died.

Two separate incidents of suicides were reported from two universities in Delhi on Sunday.

According to police, they received information about the death of Dr Navdeep Singh, a second-year MD student of Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), around 7.10 am. “When he wasn’t picking up calls, his father sent a friend to check on him. The friend found that the door of his hostel room was locked from inside,” said the police.

Dr Singh hailed from Muktsar in Punjab.

According to one of his juniors, he was a very “hardworking doctor”.

The second case of suicide was reported at Dwarka North police station. According to police, Gautam Kumar, a first-year MBA student of IP University’s main campus in Dwarka Sector 16, allegedly died after jumping from the seventh floor of a hostel building.

The 25-year-old man was a resident of Vaishali in Bihar. His body was sent to DDU Hospital. “Enquiries are ongoing to fix responsibility, if any,” said DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Kumar.
