Too much politics found in Bawana water supply

Taking note of their protest, Kejriwal said, “In a week’s time, Bawana Industrial Area will get water supply. A lot of issues regarding the quality of water supply have been raised by residents of Sannoth village. An iron treatment plant is going to come up in the area but it will take another six months to be completed. But water from Bawana Water Treatment Plant will reach the village in a week or 10 days.”

On the Bawana plant, Kejriwal said, “This plant was ready in 2003 but for 12 years, it could not start functioning. Out of these years, for 11 years the Congress was governing Delhi. For one year, there was President’s rule in the capital. What they could not do in 12 years, we did in 2 months.

He said the plant has a 20-MGD capacity but right now it is supplying only 6 MGD. In a month’s time, he said, the plant will start functioning to half its capacity. “This water will reach 6 lakh residents in the nearby areas,” the CM said.

Despite his protests, Udit Raj bore the brunt of the villagers’ anger. As he reached the venue almost an hour late, some residents of the area surrounded him, asking him why he had not visited their farms.

Raj decided to put the blame on the AAP government, calling it “anarchist”.

“This event was organised by the Delhi government. The CM needs to explain to his supporters the difference between a government and a political event. Why should I take part in it? They are running an anarchist government. They should have waited for me,” Raj said.
