2 held in Hyderabad for murdering meat shop worker in Delhi’s Timarpur
The Delhi Police said the body of the deceased, who worked in Sonia Vihar, was found on January 19 near a cemetery in Peer Baba Mazaar.
The investigators said they zeroed in on the accused after analysing the call records of the deceased. Two men were arrested from Hyderabad for allegedly killing a meat shop worker in Delhi’s Timarpur after he recorded a video humiliating one of the accused and threatened to post it on social media, the police said Tuesday.
Investigators identified the accused as electricians Sahil and Anas. They were arrested from Jawahar Nagar in Hyderabad.
According to the police, the body of the deceased was found on January 19 near a cemetery in Peer Baba Mazaar.
Raja Banthia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North Delhi, said the body “could not be identified as the tissues over the face and skull had been eaten by dogs”.
“After the post-mortem, he was identified as Shamsuddin, 21,” said Banthia, adding that the deceased had burns as well as injuries inflicted with a sharp weapon.
The police said Shamsuddin, who worked in Sonia Vihar, had given Sahil a phone to sell and the proceeds were to be shared between the two but Sahil did not give him the money. “The two had a fight on January 14 at the spot where Shamsuddin’s body was found later. During the fight, Shamsuddin forced Sahil to crouch like a chicken. Shamsuddin also beat him up and recorded a video of it on his mobile phone,” DCP Banthia said.
Feeling humiliated, Sahil hatched a plan with co-accused Anas to kill Shamsuddin, the police said. On January 16, the two allegedly murdered Shamsuddin using a knife and stone.
The investigators said they zeroed in on the accused after analysing the call records of the deceased. The two were then traced to Hyderabad.
