Tibetans protest at Chinese Embassy

Protesting against Chinese atrocities in Tibet,nine Tibetans in their underwear chained themselves to the fence outside the Chinese Embassy in Chanakyapuri on Monday.

Protesting against Chinese atrocities in Tibet,nine Tibetans in their underwear chained themselves to the fence outside the Chinese Embassy in Chanakyapuri on Monday.

The police said on receiving information that the protesters were on way to the Chinese Embassy — they started marching from Rajghat— a police force was deployed in the area. Raising anti-Chinese slogans,the protesters reached the Embassy around 11 am.

Only after a few minutes of protest,the police said,all nine were arrested.

“They were violating Section 144 of the CrPC imposed in the area. They have also been charged with breach of peace,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Sankar Dass told Newsline.

The exiled Tibetan community in India has been protesting against the 50-year-old Chinese “occupation” of Tibet.
