Close on the heels a three-year-old girl being molested in a playschool in Rohini, Outer Delhi, a similar incident was reported from West Delhi’s Hari Nagar area on Thursday. The child too is three years old and was sexually assaulted during school hours by the playschool owner’s son. Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Ranvir Singh said the accused has been arrested.
“Vikas (24) has been arrested under Section 376 of the IPC and the POCSO Act,” Singh said.
According to police, on Thursday morning, Vikas lured the girl into the school bathroom and sexually assaulted her. Later, when the child’s parents came to pick her up, they learnt about the incident and informed police. The girl was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital, where a medical examination confirmed that she had been raped.
Her father told Newsline, “My daughter was crying when my wife picked her up from school. My wife got alarmed and informed me. We took our child to a private hospital where we were told that she has been sexually assaulted. We called the police control room and lodged a complaint. Police then admitted her to Deen Dayal hospital for a medical examination.”
“My daughter complained about Vikas to us. When police came, they asked her to identify the one who assaulted her. She pointed at Vikas and he was arrested from the school premises,” the father said. Police have arranged a counsellor to help the child.
Police said investigation revealed that the accused used to visit the playschool for an hour every day, to help the school authorities with accounts.
On Friday, parents and relatives of the girl, who was molested by a peon in Rohini, held protests outside the school. They were demanding the arrest of the school principal and teachers.
