Three held for looting people after offering them lift in auto

Police said one of the men,Kaseem,owned an autorickshaw.

The Ghaziabad police on Friday arrested a gang of three,which allegedly looted people after offering them a ride in their autorickshaw.

The three men have been identified as Kaseem,Tahir and Naushad,all residents of Ghaziabad and aged between 22 and 25,police said.

Police said one of the men,Kaseem,owned an autorickshaw. “The three would make rounds of the city in the autorickshaw and offer rides to those travelling alone at night. The person would get in assuming that it was a shared autorickshaw. They would then threaten the person with a knife or gun and loot them. Several cases have been lodged against them in the city,” an officer said.

“The three men were arrested from Indirapuram. Two knives,a pistol and two cartridges were recovered from them. We have also impounded the autorickshaw that was used in the crimes,” the officer said.
