It isn’t only MF Hussain who’s fascinated with horses, corporate executive Biswajit Das,26,sees in them a gamut of motions and emotions — from freedom to loneliness. His ongoing exhibition at the All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society explores these facets through 35 canvases that tell stories about equines and the environment. “If you lose your way in the wilderness,if suddenly tears roll down your cheeks, seek, for there might be a horse at your doorstep to carry you away,” says Das,who draws his artistic inspiration from the colours and moods of his hometown in rural Bengal.

Exhibiting along with Das is Camellia Suman,30,also from Bengal, who believes that the Divine Feminine rules in every woman and unleashes this spirit in a series of bold-hued paintings called Cosmic Relations. In one of his works, called Forbidden,Suman uses the apple—a symbol of the fruit of the tree of knowledg— to depict the uninhibited female desire. “Through my works,I have tried to answer the questions why the ‘woman’ is considered a man’s solace,” he says. The works are priced between Rs 15,000 and Rs 75,000.
