On Saturday, Nafe Singh Rajput filed his nomination to contest an election for the ninth time. In the last 10 years, he has contested eight elections, and won none of them. But, this does not deter him from contesting yet again. “I do not contest for winning, it is important to try,” Rajput said.
The 40-year-old is a data entry operator and runs a computer centre in Burari. Rajput completed his education till class XII from Gwalior and has been contesting elections since he moved to Delhi. “Politics is social service for me. It does not matter who I contest against,” he said.
Rajput last contested the elections to the municipal corporation in the capital and secured 1,100 votes. “I have never won. I normally secure the third or fourth position,” he said.
