Teenager run over in Gurgaon,more than 15 Haryana Roadways buses vandalised

A teenager was mowed down by a Haryana Roadways bus in Gurgaon on Friday afternoon.

A teenager was mowed down by a Haryana Roadways bus in Gurgaon on Friday afternoon. Within an hour of the incident,students from his institute vandalised more than 15 state buses in protest.

Police said Pappu was returning from his coaching class at 1 pm on Friday.

“He was boarding a Haryana Roadways bus near the Mahavir Chowk bus stand. While he was stepping into the bus,the driver pressed the accelerator. Pappu lost balance and fell out of the bus. He came under the rear wheels of the bus and died on the spot,” Babu Lal,SHO,city police station,said.

According to police,Pappu lived in Surat Nagar near Rajendra Park with his relatives. He was taking English classes.

“He was sent to Gurgaon by his parents about three years ago. He wanted to learn English and join a call centre,” a student at the institute said.

Nearly 50 people vandalised 15 buses and set one on fire. “The mob broke window panes of the buses,hurled stones on the Roadways employees. The crowd was brought under control in half an hour,” a senior officer said.

Police said the bus driver was absconding.
