A call was received at the Prashant Vihar police station at 6:45 am on Saturday to report the incident. “A police team rushed to the spot and found a girl hanging by a dupatta, which was tied to a tree,” DCP (Rohini) Amit Goel said.
Police said that no external injuries were found on the girl’s body, and her slippers were found near the tree, suggesting that she might have removed them before dying by suicide.
A case has been registered, and recent complaints of missing people are being verified to ascertain the girl’s identity. No one has yet claimed the body, said officers.
“The body has been sent for postmortem and results will reveal more about the cause of her death,” a police officer said.
