For about an hour, three passengers were stuck in a lift at Barakhamba Road Metro station at 5 pm on Saturday. The lift was stuck between the ground and concourse level. “The problem occurred due to the rope coming out of the groove of the pulley, resulting in jamming of the motor of the lift.
The General Manager (electrical), in charge of maintenance, rushed to the site and got the doors of the lift opened to provide ventilation, and water was given to the three middle-aged passengers,” said Anuj Dayal, Executive Director, Corporate Communications, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). According to the DMRC, the rope was cut to restore functionality of the lift and passengers were safely rescued by the staff.
