Two women and an auto driver were robbed of their money, cellphones and debit cards by two bike-borne assailants on Saturday. Interestingly, the robbers took them to a secluded spot in Nehru Place, where one of them asked the two women to put their hands on his head and swear that they wouldnt report the matter to the police.
Baffled, the two women did as asked and waited for the robbers to leave before approaching police.
The incident was reported at 10.15 pm on March 16,when the women Ujan Datta,an event manager, and Shruti, who is pursuing a degree at NIFT were on their way to Shrutis fathers house in Panchsheel Enclave.
The two took an auto from Green Park Metro station and they were waylaid by the robbers in the service lane behind Max hospital.
The pillion rider asked the driver why he was driving so fast and asked us to pull over. We assumed they were police officers and stopped. The pillion rider got off and got into our auto saying he had two guns and a knife and asked us to hand over our belongings. I took out Rs 1,200,my mobile phone and two debit cards, while Shruti handed over her mobile phone, two ATM cards and Rs 400. He then asked the driver to hand over his belongings but the driver said he did not have any cards, Ujan said in her complaint to police.
One of them asked the auto driver Kuldeep Singh (38),a resident of Mehrauli to take the auto to Nehru Place flyover. He sat next to the two women and kept threatening to kill them.
On reaching Nehru Place flyover, the robber got off and asked the victims to keep their hands on his head and swear on god,and their parents that they wouldnt inform the police. Then,he left and told us to stay in the auto.
The two women then went to Shrutis fathers house in the auto and then informed police.
A case of robbery has been registered at the Hauz Khas police station.
